I have a pet rabbit but i have no idea how to wash her and properly clean her and cut her nails?

My parents don't have the money to go to vet. My parents say it costs a lot of money. Tell me about how much it costs to get her clean.Or get her nails cut. Plus her feet are covered with pee. Fill the bath with warm water, not too hot, remember rabbits are smaller and will feel the heat alot more than we do. Make sure it's about 3 inches of water, anymore than that and she might get a lung full. Using a mild shampoo, gently rub it into her fur and feet, making sure her head is always a good distance above the water, chances are she'll stand on both legs so this will make your job a little easier, if she doesn't don't worry. Once you've given her a light shampooing, rinse her thoroughly but gently with warm water, always remember to check her head is a safe distance from it. Pat her dry with a towel and let her run around in a large box infront of a heater or fire for abit, not too close though you don;t want to roast the poor girl.





With regards to trimming the nails, just trim everything you can see through clearly. If it's pink it's painful.

Where has this animal been living? Rabbits HATE to be dirty, they should never be forced to live in an environment where they are constantly dirty. They must be cleaned out daily with larger cleanings weekly. They should not be bathed unless it is absolutely necessary. No weekly, monthly, whatever baths. In a perfect world they would never be washed in all of their lives.





It doesn't cost anything to get a rabbit cleaned. You don't buy soap, you don't even put them in water to do it. You get a towel and you wipe them off only in the areas they're dirty in. If it's really stuck on there, you get less than an inch of water in a sink or bucket and try again with the towel. That's it. You can cut her nails yourself too, get a pair of clippers at a pet store, they should be less than 5$ and you either wrap the animal in a towel and do it yourself, or get someone to help hold her.
One of my best friends used to breed and show bunnies (and I helped! :-D). Depending on the breed of bunny you have, you may not want to bathe it at all. Most longhair breeds don't do well with a lot of water. You'll end up having a big, tangled hairball! LOL. You can try putting your bunny in a tub with just a little water and rinsing her feet. In stores like Wal-Mart you can find bunny shampoo for about $6. If the fur on her feet isn't really too dirty, you can use unscented baby wipes to clean them. Make sure that the cage you are keeping her in is one with a wire bottom with a tray underneath. This will he keep her from sitting in her pee. As far as her nails, if you are comfortable with doing it and she is used to being handled, you can clip her nails yourself with the type you would used on a cat or dog. Hope this helps!
You can cut the nails with regular nail clippers just keep touching the rabbits feet when holding in different positions so when you cut them she won't freak out so much.The rear end part I hold her with one arm against my stomach and wash her bottom under lukewarm running water.They are not big fans of getting wet and their hair holds a lot of water .Shredded newspaper works well the ink stops some odor but sprinkle some yucca on the food it will take away the smelly waste of the bunny.Also when cutting nails if white hold up towards bright light so you can see the quick (vein) do not cut close to that
Go to a vet. If you cant afford basic vets bills to properly care for your rabbit you shouldnt really own one.


I'm sorry but it it deserves to be properly looked after. BUT things like that generally dont cost the earth... maybe like 拢20 for basic check (not including any vaccines or anything like that) this is important especially with clipping nails as if this is wrong it can cause BIG problems. Also, once you go one time, the vet will teach you how to do it yourself.





As for the feet... if they're literally just a bit unclean... warm water and cotton wool :) BUT check first theres nothing else going on to make them smell such as infection etc.

If you want to keep the rabbit clean, make sure you clean it's cage! It will take care of itself.





Also, it's nails should not need trimming if it gets enough room to run around and stuff to climb about on.





The only thing that should ever occasionally need trimming are its teeth, which should only be undertaken by a vet.





At the end of the day, if you can't afford the costs, DON'T GET A PET!
call ur vet i have 2 dwarfs not as expensive as u think as for his feet just use a little shampoo for animals on them rinse them well though as for cutting his nails u and ur dad can doit just use small toe clippers just cut at the end of fur on toes not to deep in no real need to take to vet unless they get sick
go to a nearby pet co or pet store call the store and ask how much it is you can look for the number in the phone book my estimates are about 20 30 dollars? and this will get your pet nails cut and washed and everything will be clean.
