we have had our bull terrier for about 6 months now. we spent alot of money getting his health up since the people that had him before us didnt take the best care of him recently he has been biting and chewing at his nails on his front and back paws they are beginning to look red at the base of the nail and the nails seem to kindof crumble off i am going to take him to the vet just wanting to see if anyone else had this problem with their dogAny ideas what could be wrong with my bull terriers nails?
Chewing at their feet often is a symptom of allergies and nails can become crumbly if they are moist over a period of time (from the chewing). That was one of the symptoms my dog displayed before I found out she is allergic to cooked chicken and beef, rice, barley, corn, wheat, soy and oats. A switch to a totally grain-free existence and strict dietary restrictions has alleviated all symptoms.Any ideas what could be wrong with my bull terriers nails?
It could be allergies.
