Are artificial toe nails a good idea?

My toenails are very very short. I'd do it just for the summer. Do they peel off you real nails? Do they cause problems for real nails? Are artificial toe nails a good idea?
A qualified, experienced, and skilled nail technician will be able to do either gel, or acrylic toenails for you. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the product (acrylic or gel) which ruins your nails. It is the result of an unskilled tech. You typically find them in what we typically refer to as 'discount' salons. There are essentially the foreign owned and operated salons that you find on every street corner and in every strip mall and in shopping malls as well. Think Regal nails. Its an awful place. Discount salons charge like $25 or less for a full set of acrylics. But, in doing so, they are taking many shortcuts, using inferior and potentially hazardous products, and the end result is usually a very shoddy, awful milky white looking set of nails. No wonder they always use polish to cover their nails up with. They more than not ruin peoples nails by over filing them. This is not necessary to do. Many think its because 'roughing' up your nails is necessary because it makes the acrylic adhere better. That is incorrect. Nails do not have to be roughed up. Only a gentle hand filing is needed to remove the nails natural shine - and no more than that.

So yeah, go to an American owned and operated nail salon with experienced, skilled techs. Not all of them do a great job. You will still have to search aroud a bit. But when you do find a true nail professional, believe me - your nails will never have looked as good before! The bottom line is: If you don't want your nails ruined or nails to come off by themselves, then stay out of the discount salons. They are making the nail industry - as a whole, look very bad. They do things their own way, often with no regard for the law and regulation for nail salons and technicians. Many are unlicensed. That is not good...

Best wishes! Are artificial toe nails a good idea?
NO NO NO! I've been a professional nail tech for 19 yrs and I can tell you that they bread mold, fungus, and bacteria. Unless you live in a place on this earth where all you where is open toed shoes or sandals, then its not a good idea. I have done a few but only on a temporary basis to simply mask a deformed toe nail for a special occasion. I would never extend or use any artificial surface on the toe nails other than nail polish. Have you ever seen a pair of feet with extended toe nails??? OMG, soooooooo gross!!! Blak!!
They do make your nails weak and weary. They peel off over time but its not worth it. Its expensive and not effective.
no.
uhm, no...
